Smoky Mountain Quilters Guild
Community Events

2010 Calendar of Events

Saturday, April 24th. Greening up the Mountains, Sylva. We will be selling scholarship tickets and cookbooks.

July 17th: Franklin Heritage Days: We will be hand quilting and doing Make-It, Take-It at the Community Facilities Building on 441. (This is a change of venue from last year's First Baptist Church.) We will also have a table to sell our cookbooks and scholarship tickets and to represent guild activities. On display will be the worlds largest quilt, the world's largest wallhanging and an autograph quilt raffled by Macon Crafts in the 1980's. There is also the possibility that we will help with a showing of vintage quilts.

August 15-21: Smoky Mountain Quilters Presents “Quilting New Trails” our biannual quilt show. More information is under Quilt Show 2010 on our web site.

September 12th through 18th. Macon County Fair. Again we will be demonstrating hand quilting. We also have a booth where we represent the interests of the guild and sell our cookbooks. Because we will have drawn the winner for the scholarship quilt at the August Quilt show, we will be raffling the Jinny Beyer quilt made by Jeannie McDougall which was hanging in City Hall for it's opening ceremonies. The proceeds will go to guild programs and projects.

October 23rd: Macon County Pumpkin Fest: We will have a booth representing the guild, selling cookbooks, and tickets for the Jinny Beyer quilt. We will draw the winner for that quilt at the end of the day.

For all of these events, please call or e-mail Nancilee Dills to volunteer. We always welcome your help to keep the tradition of quilting alive in the Smoky Mountains.
