2012 North Carolina Quilt Symposium
Hosted by Smoky Mountain Quilters and the NCQSI Board
June 7-10, 2012
at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC.
We are pleased to be holding the Symposium this far west for the first time in the history of the NCQSI and are looking forward to everyone visiting our beautiful mountains and enjoying our quilting Heritage.
The guild will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with 3-1/2 days of workshops and lectures by well-known quilt instructors. You may stay on campus or attend as a day student. There will be a quilt show with over 400 quilts, 24 vendors, a Small Quilt Silent Auction, an opportunity quilt, a 50's ice cream social, evening lecture, and many other events. Additionally Western will have quilt related exhibits at their Fine Arts Center and at their Heritage Center.
LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! The 2012 NC Quilt Symposium will be held at the beautiful Western Carolina University campus in Cullowhee, NC. Located in the Smoky Mountains, nestled in next to the historic town of Sylva, we are so fortunate to be where the views are spectacular and the weather is perfect. Our dorms will be the newest on campus, only two years old when we arrive, Balsam and Blue Ridge. They are totally handicapped accessible and completely computer friendly. The rooms are mostly double occupancy with a bath. The cafeteria is full service and open (for a fee) to even the vendors and quilt show attendees. Full time boarders of course have their food included in their tuition. The Quilt Show and Vendors will be in the Hines University Center—two floors of quilts and shopping!!! Classes will be in the Coulter and Killian Classroom Buildings. Best of all, in June 2012, all the buildings we are using will surround a handicapped-accessible courtyard. Registration for the Symposium will open January 20th, 2012. You cannot register before that date.
